Quilt Market

Catch us live from fall Quilt Market in Houston, TX

Hey there, makers!

Guess, what?! One of our favorite times of the year has arrived! No, it’s not Christmas but it’s close to it (at least for quilt shops)! It’s time for Fall Quilt Market. This is an epic trade show for the sewing and quilting industry where local quilt shops, online fabric stores, and any other businesses related to sewing come to stock up on new products for the upcoming season.

It's-time-for-quilt-market-fall-2017

Every fall, Quilt Market takes place in the George R. Brown convention center in Houston, TX. This year’s show is particularly special because Houston is recovering from the devastating hurricane that hit in September. Despite the turmoil they had over the past months, we are grateful that they are able to host this wonderful event for the sewing community.

We couldn’t be happier to attend because we have tons of surprises in store for you via social media! Seven of our talented designers will be showing their new fabric collections and we have some fun games for you to watch on Facebook Live and Instagram. Make sure to stay tuned from October 28-30th for three days filled with all things AGF and a chance to get to know our designers.

P.S. If you could ask any of the designers listed anything, what would it be? Let me know in the comments and i’ll personally ask them at the show. 😉

About a week ago, I shared some of the exciting things that happened during Quilt Market in Part I of our recap. Well, guess what? There’s lots more from Quilt Market that you haven’t seen! Today, we’re giving you a glimpse of three more of our designers’ booths plus a video summing everything up! Check it out!

Bountiful by Sharon Holland

For this quilt market, Sharon displayed her recently released collection Bountiful. As some of you might know, Bountiful is all about the beauty of the midwest. The rustic fabrics in this collection couldn’t have been more perfect for this show because it took place in the midwest (St. Louis, MO). To take a closer look at the fabulous projects she had on display, flip through the Bountiful Lookbook.

To learn more about Sharon, watch her interview.

Arizona After & Heritage by April Rhodes

2017-St-Louis-Spring-Market-April-Rhodes---Arizona-After-&-Heritage-1

April took us on a heartfelt journey with her two upcoming collections Arizona After & Heritage! Her booth was like entering a living room filled with handmade projects and family mementos that showed us the importance of remembering our roots.

To learn more about April, watch her interview.

Little Town by Amy Sinibaldi

2017-St-Louis-Spring-Market-Amy---Little-Town-1

Amy took us to a winter wonderland with her upcoming collection Little Town. This collection is the first Holiday collection AGF is releasing and we couldn’t be happier! Amy’s sweet designs express the essence of winter while having some prints that can be used throughout the year.

Fall 2016 Quilt Market Recap

Hey fabulous makers!

I hope everyone had a great week! Now that we’re back from Quilt Market we’re ready to start showing off our upcoming collections. But before we do that, we have to show you a glimpse of our time at the trade show. We’ve prepared a re-cap for you to experience all the fun we had at the show!

ArtGalleryFabrics_Houston2016Market_42

For this year’s concept, we designed an open plan booth surrounded by themes of color. We wanted to show off all the bright colors in our fabrics. So, the best way of doing this was by creating color stories with handmade products and inspirational images. Our layout reminded me so much of the beautiful merchandising of retails stores like Anthropologie.

One of my favorite parts of the booth was the floor. I know it sounds bizarre, but it was amazing! We covered the black convention center floor with patterned decals that said LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH. I thought it was a beautiful way of summing up our ideas and all of the things we love.

But the most exciting part of this year’s Quilt Market in Houston was that we won the 1st Place Multiple Booths Award! We were over the moon when we heard the announcement and they came to hand us the award. This showed us that hard work pays off and we were so happy to share our joy with everyone who came by our booth.

To take a glimpse at Quilt Market with an AGF twist, I invite you to view this video re-cap we’ve prepared for you (and you get to see me as the host (✿◠‿◠)). Enjoy!

I hope you had fun watching our re-cap video and that you felt like you were there with us.

Feel free to tell us about your favorite parts of the video in the comments.

See ya!

Stay tuned on Sunday, October 30th around 2:00 pm EST to see how creative our booth design is this time! Fall Quilt Market recap, part three

Hey there! This is the final installment of the Fall 2013 Houston Quit Market recap.

Now for our final three AGF designers.

Jeni Baker showed her third collection, Dreamin' Vintage (available April 2014).

Dreamingvintagebooth_1

Inspired by bed linens from the 50s and 60s, Dreamin' Vintage is totally retro with cheerful florals and cool geometrics. Jeni's booth was flea market crafty with giant tissue paper flower pom poms, fabric garland and vintage finds.

Dreamingvintagebooth_2

We'll never know how Jeni managed to fit everything for the booth in two suitcases and a carry-on! Just look at all of those adorable projects.

Another one of our designers, also showing her third collection, is Anglea Walters. With her beach themed booth, Anglea's Drift collection (available March 2014) was a tropical island paradise. We were having a great time playing vollyball and blowing bubbles!

Driftbooth_

Angela is known for her amazing quilts. She made her reverse appliqué quilt a week before Market! She machine quilted the quilt and then cut away the top layer of navy linen to expose the Drift fabric.

What a pro!

Last, but not least, is Leach Duncan showing her second AGF collection, Meadow (available February 2014).

Meadowbooth_1

As usual, Leah brings the outdoors into Market with her fresh flower displays allowing anyone who comes into her booth feeling like they are in the summer air of a fresh meadow. The photo backdrop of a meadow and sky made Leah's booth so serene.

Meadowbooth_2

Makes you want to put on a Meadow dress and sit down for a picnic! And those darling suitcases are just to die for, right?

Again, we give a big round of applause to ALL of our designers!

Thanks for reading the AGF blog and keeping up with all things Art Gallery Fabrics. We cannot wait to start planning for Spring Market (aahh... did I just say that???).

Keep sewing and we'll see you next week!
