Summery Vibes: Sun Kissed Fabric Collection

Even though it's technically winter, here in Florida we're used to warm sunshine this time of year! You'll often find us Floridians decorating palm tress with Christmas lights, and there's been several years where I've even gone to the beach on New Year's Day with the family.

With this in mind, we decided to stick to what we know and bring in some warmer climates with Maureen Cracknell’s latest collection, Sun Kissed! Inspired by soaking up the sunshine and glowing skin after a cool swim, this fabric line features cute smiley suns, swimming pool tiles, tropical florals and palm trees swaying in a relaxing breeze. It's like one big tropical dream.

With a color palette of ocean blues, cherry reds and citrus fused yellows, Sun Kissed is sure to create a “island escape” feel in your sewing projects.  From “summer time” feeling quilts, throw pillows, rugs, beachy accessories, and effortless, resort-inspired garments for strolling along a boardwalk, you’ll definitely have some “fun in the sun” sewing with these twenty prints!

A Nod to The East: Silkroad Fusion Collection

Hi Makers!

If you have been following AGF for a while, you would know that we don't often focus on contrasting colors of black, red, and white in our collections. Well, we decided to do things a little different this time and this time, and bring them to center stage in our latest collection! Inspired by what you’d discover while traveling the trading route that connected The East to The West, AGF created its latest collection, “Silkroad Fusion.” This fabric line celebrates the emerging trend of Asian influences in textiles with designs from ancient techniques of brushwork that’s modernized with geometrics and florals, creating a unique, exotic mix for your sewing.

We decided to do a new take on color combinations and use full bodied hues of scarlet red and charcoal black mixed with pops of white. Silkroad Fusion is ideal for creating elegant and impactful sewing projects. Available in cotton with select prints in knits and a rayon, these designs can be used to sew bold quilts, pillows, table runners, wall hangings, Japanese-style garments like kimonos, and statement accessories.

A Creative Homage: Art District Fusion

Have you ever spent a day exploring an artsy neighborhood?! You’d probably start your day, grabbing a cup of coffee at a cute cafe, wander in and out of art galleries, browse small shops that are filled with unique, artisanal crafts, and of course, spend some time photographing all the amazing murals you’d unexpectedly find in alleyways. In Florida, if you're looking to see some street art or explore some unique shops, galleries, plant stores and delicious cafes, our biggest art district here is "Wynwood" which is a fun place to head to! If you were here this past weekend, you got to experience the annual "Art Basel" in full action with artists arriving from all around the world, creating unique, pop-up installations and events. There's never a dull moment in the art district between the art and people watching, you'll always leave with a ton of inspiration.

From bright colors and eye-catching designs like friendly cats, decadent ice cream, and painterly textures, this fabric line is available in cotton with select prints in knits and a rayon for garment makers! Designed for all you “art lovers at heart,” Art District Fusion is perfect for creating modern and playful sewing projects like geometric-filled quilts, pillows, rugs, and accessories that make a bold, artistic statement.

A Tribute: Legendary Fabric Collection

Often when you have a creative goal in mind, you just have to begin and start somewhere. Eventually, you'll learn along the way and get better at whatever it is that you're setting out to do! There's often no mentors to ask beforehand, no check list, no guidelines...just you and that gut feeling. However, with patience, persistence, and of course practice, you can achieve anything really! I'm sure all of us can relate to this because we've all started off somewhere. Just think back to how far you've come, and take a moment to pat yourself on the back for everything you've accomplished.

With accomplishments in mind, a great reminder of this journey is our AGF designer, Pat Bravo. She began sewing as a little girl, and overtime got into quilting and began shopping for fabrics that she wanted to use for her quilty projects. As she became more familiar with her craft and materials, she realized the type of fabrics she "craved" did not exist at the time, and decided to begin designing her own fabric. Pat knows quilting, fabric and the process that connects the two oh so well. With her latest fabric collection "Legendary," she celebrates creating 40 fabric collection in 14 years. Celebrating this milestone, she created this special edition of 24 prints to commemorate the special occasion!

Our Favorite DIY Wall Art

Hello, Makers!

Can’t believe it's almost the end of year, wow has time flown by! This is my favorite season of all, where we get to spend a lot of time with family and eat really scrumptious food. Although this is a happy time of the year, it can become stressful running around store to store, trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone. Well makers I have some fun projects you can make that are very universal, so get those sewing machines ready… time to craft up our own gifts. I pulled together some great Wall Art tutorials that you can make that would be a perfect  housewarming gift, or you can make one for any home decor lover!

Lets get started:

Signature_WallArt-1_new1. Glee Wall Art-  Inspired by the collar of a simple blouse, AGF Studio created this 3-piece wall art using Signature fabrics- with it’s romantic pinks, we just had to hang it in our own office! Great piece for someone that needs that one centerpiece on their wall.

Wild Bloom Wall Art 5  2. Spring Mandala- If you or your loved one is flower obsessed, this one's for you! Using Wild Bloom fabrics, filled with bright jewel tone florals, it will definitely stand out on a neutral colored wall.

Indie Folk Wall Art 2-edited3. Rosemary’s Heart- Now this quilt is no easy project but it’s one of those projects that you will be proud to hang on the wall once it’s finished! Using Indie Folk fabrics, this collection will be for those who have a boho style home and it definitely would be the focal point in any room.

Virtuosa-Wall-Hanging-14. Virtuosa Wall Hanging- Bari J’s latest collection, Virtuosa, is filled with colorful boho flair! A gorgous wall hanging with added tassels and of course some embellishments were called for! Tackle this fun patchwork project, that has no seams, just topstitching.

Love Story Quilt FREE 105. Pretty Dayz- Our Love Story collection represents all the simple beauties of love, so why not craft a project that radiates that energy?!

I hope these DIY projects spark the crafty side in you and reduces some of that holiday shopping! I think we can all agree that handmade is best.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday!

Striking a New Chord: Sonata Fabric Collection

Thomas-kinto-1086141-unsplash

At the age of five, I began learning classical piano. Every week, I'd have a piano lesson with my piano teacher and learned to play songs from all "the greats" like Mozart, Bach, Chopin....but my absolute favorite composer's songs to play was "Ludwig van Beethoven." His songs were moody and felt like they just had soul (no offense to the other talented composers), I just connected to his music the most, and his "Moonlight Sonata" became my favorite song to play on the piano..still is today! One of the main reasons I love it so much is that sonata's usually have three movements that contain different speeds: "Fast, Slow, Fast." However, Beethoven mixes up his song "Moonlight Sonata" by making it go: "Slow, Slow, Fast." He liked to experiment with composing music, and serves as a great reminder for learning traditional methods, revamping them, and then applying your own personal style to them. Very inspiring! :)

Beethoven's work also resonated with our designer, Amy Sinibaldi. Striking a new chord with her latest collection "Sonata," these fabrics were inspired by the classical music of one of the most influential musicians during the 18th century. Composed of romantic prints, these fabrics include symphony instruments, harmonious florals like edelweiss, and ornate windows that overlook the wondrous city of Vienna, these designs definitely take you on a musical journey. With a soft color palette of soft pinks and tranquil blues, this collection is great for fussy cutting to make music-inspired projects like whimsical quilts, home decor, wall art, and garments.
