Reminiscing With Maureen Cracknell’s Gloria Fabrics

Gloria_Banner

I feel like anyone that ever began to sew, the origins started with their grandmother or mother showing them the basics. Since I was a little girl, my grandmother will always have me sit next to her and give me some thread, a needle, and a pile of socks to repair the holes on. As a little girl, I always saw this as a chore, but little did I know that I would love and appreciate this skill that she showed me. It’s made me explore what more I could do, and it even led me to purchase my first sewing machine! My grandma and I shared a special bond as we sewed together, she would tell me stories of her life and always had some wisdom to share. Maureen Cracknell’s latest collection “Gloria” filled with warm colors, florals, and its vintage touch brought me to a special place where I sewed with my grandmother. I instantly fell in love and am extra excited to release this collection to all of you that may bring back some memories!

This collection was inspired by Maureen’s maternal grandmother and her home. Influenced by her love of florals and pink, the bird book by the bay window feeder, furnishing and decor details that remain vivid in her head. Gloria is full of meaningful prints that reflect the love and dear memories of her time being with her.

Gloria comes in so many prints, your heart chords are surely going to be pulled! There are 16 quilting cotton prints available, with a yummy warm palette that will make the coziest quilts for the season. There are a variety of substrates offered with different prints like “Nostalgia Meadow Sepia” a soft peachy floral knit, and “Gleaming Sun Copper” rayon print that is bolder in color and would make the sweetest dresses. Lastly, we have “Olden Bouquets” in flannel, which I can see being used for warm winter clothes and backing of quilts.

AGF Gift Of Giving Giveaway

IMG_2925_blog2

Today, I would love to talk about something a little different, deeper than just sewing, and it’s about the wonderful gift of giving. It was really important to us to give back, to give something that we made with our hearts and hands that people will love and appreciate. It’s that time of year when we come together, and give our loved ones something special!

Makers truly support each other, as we know the amount of love that goes into all our projects. With this in mind, I am so excited to announce that here at AGF we invite you to an event of giving back, and to join us in creating handmade gifts!

Starting today, I encourage you to use your crafting hands to make something beautiful and share it with us using the hashtag #AGFGiftofGiving on all social media platforms! Share the joy of giving something handmade, and creating something with your own hands with fabrics and tools that you already may have.

To encourage everyone to participate and as a big thank you for your kind hearts, we are throwing the biggest giveaway of the year. By sharing photos of your handmade gifts under the hashtag #AGFGiftofGiving on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, you will be automatically entered to win a 10 POUND MYSTERY BOX OF AGF FABRICS

Yes, you read that correctly! There will be a winner chosen for each platform, 1 for Twitter, 1 for Facebook, and 1 for Instagram, for a total of three winners! We will personally direct message you on the platform you have won on, and just so you know it’s us, we will also announce your handle/name/username right here on the blog. This giveaway is open internationally and will end on December 23, 2021.

*DISCLAIMER: Each winner will have 7 days to claim your prize, starting the day we message you. If we don’t receive a reply, we will have to choose another winner as we’d like to be fair with all participants, and pass the opportunity to another contestant. Thank you!

The 2021 Quiltmas Spectacular

Quiltmas 2021_ Blog Header

To paraphrase Buddy the Elf, “The best way to spread Quiltmas cheer is quilting loud for all to hear." And while we may have just shared our last of the daily blocks for Quiltmas 2021, that just means that now we have time to catch up on our Quiltmas quilting!

Not familiar with Quiltmas? It’s a fun kickoff to the holiday season, like a shortened advent calendar, where every day from December 1st through the 12th a new festive quilt block is delivered to your inbox. And the best part is that each block is designed by a different designer (aka Quiltmas Elf) so there’s a mix of styles, techniques, and skills.

This is the third year of Quiltmas and the second year we’ve teamed up with Art Gallery Fabrics: every year Quiltmas just gets better! I'm always blown away by the creativity of the team of Quiltmas Elves and their festive spirit is impossible to resist, even for the Grinch-iest of us. To make this joyful start to the holiday season even better is this year we got to work with the darling prints from the Cozy & Magical holiday fabric collection by Maureen Cracknell. I’ve loved seeing the 12 block patterns come to life with these fabrics: from the mustard golds and the deep navys, to the bright peppermint red prints and the just oh-so-darling snowy scene prints, they’re definitely magical!

On that note, let’s all spread some Quiltmas cheer and give a round of applause to the 2021 Quiltmas team (and share their darling makes)!

On the first day of Quiltmas and Quilt Elf Fran @cottonandjoy brought to us a whimsical block, Nordic Gnome:

On the second day of Quiltmas and Quilt Elf Shannon @shannonfraserdesigns brought to us a delightful block, Christmas Angel:

On the third day of Quiltmas and Quilt Elf Ben @benmillett brought to us a heartfelt block, I Gave You My Heart:

Whether you’ve already made one, or some, or are just now hearing about Quiltmas for the first time, on behalf of all the Quiltmas Elves, we hope you enjoy them! If you haven’t yet signed up for Quiltmas, there is still time to get all the 12” quilt blocks: you can sign up for them here. Just make sure you download them by the end of day December 31, 2021, as that’s when we close our workshops for the year and the patterns are taken down (often to be turned into a full-size quilt pattern by the Elves).

And to continue spreading the cheer, CLICK HERE for a chance to win a fat quarter bundle of the scrumptious Cozy & Magical fabric collection by Maureen Cracknell! The giveaway ends December 20, 2021, and the winner will be emailed by AGF and announced right here on the blog. And as a little bonus, if you already signed up for the Quiltmas Spectacular emails, you're automatically entered in the giveaway, so by signing up above, you'll get two entries!

Please reply within 7 days to claim your prize (check your email by December 27!) If we don’t receive a reply, we will have to choose another winner as we’d like to be fair with all participants, and pass the opportunity to another contestant. Thank you!

THE WINNER IS LOLA ZIMMERMAN! PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL TO REDEEM YOUR PRIZE!

By signing up for the Quiltmas Spectacular emails, you agree to subscribe to the following email lists: Art Gallery Fabrics and Broadcloth Studio. (We promise not to spam you, sell your email, or anything else unpleasant! And, of course, you can unsubscribe at any time).

Good luck!
