Autumn Is Here: Kismet Fabrics

Kismet_cover blog

Happy Friday!

You know it’s going to be a good Friday when we have another lookbook coming out back to back! We are working hard here at AGF so we can come out with the latest and greatest before the holidays, and this week we were so excited to put Sharon Holland’s Kismet lookbook together. Now I know I am not the only one feeling a certain way about this collection because I have already seen so many beautiful projects on social media with these fabrics! Without a doubt, this collection is one of my favorites! The RICH colors, the florals, and it’s little boho elements makes me swoon. If you haven’t already, you must check out the hashtag #AGFKismet, there are some talented makers out there making the prettiest things with these fabrics that you don’t want to miss!

Ok well I think you heard enough of me ranting about how much I love this collection and I’m sure many of you don’t even know what this collection is about (haha) so let me give you some insight.

Kismet harmoniously aligns hand-drawn florals, classic paisley, and earthy global-inspired motifs in this rich autumnal collection colored in shades of berry, cinnamon, honey, cream, and sable.

Can you see now from this picture what I’m talking about? Total eye-catcher! As much as I enjoy talking about fabric, one of my favorite things before releasing a collection is reading about the inspiration behind each release. We always send interviews to our designers to better understand and relay the message to all of you, and after reading Sharon’s interview I learned that her collections always start with a focal print.

This print is the iconic “Fleuron” pictured above and I think we can all agree that it’s beautiful. It’s the largest scaled print of the collection and it’s (almost) too pretty to cut up. I’d love to see this for the backing of quilts, handbags, or even decorative pillows! Luckily for all you patchwork lovers out there, you can cut this baby up and sew it with other blenders of the collection like “Busy Bee Karma” filled with smaller florals and a deeper background for contrast. There are also a lot of boho elements in this collection that will be great to use with the floral prints or use alone to fussy cut.

Kismet is also available in 2 colorways, “Fate” with warm yellows and oranges, and “Destiny” with rich reds and blacks. But you can find the best of both words in the selected rayon prints, having 2 available in this collection which is ideal for the fall season! Its soft hand makes it perfect for garments and accessories, I can already see the flowy dresses, scarves, and kimonos being made with these prints.
