Our Newest Capsule: PINE LULLABY KNIT FABRICS!

Hi Makers,

Looking for some new knits to sew with, or maybe you're on the hunt for some fabrics for some homemade gifts to give a mama-to-be or a little one?!

With all the trends of gender-neutral color palettes for kids' clothing and decor, we decided to do our own spin on a collection  with this in mind and created "Pine Lullaby!" In case you don't know, a capsule is a small collection we make in-house here at AGF. For these ten, darling prints, we gathered inspiration from the woods and nature, fusing them with a modern touch of white backgrounds and a natural color palette like sprucy mint, sunlit cedar, and blush rose.

Our knit is super soft and stretchy which makes a versatile substrate to use for a multitude of sewing projects like quilts, babies’ garments, and accessories. Ranging in a warm or cool colorway, you’ll discover hand drawn woodland critters like hedgehogs, foxes and whimsy pine trees that are great for fussy cutting as well. This collection can also be mixed and matched with warm or cool colors and prints!

LEARN TO QUILT - How to Sew the “Pathway” Quilt Block | Sewing Made Easy

How to Sew a Pathway Block -Tutorial

Hello Makers,

What is your favorite go-to blender fabrics? For those of you new to quilting, blender fabrics are basic tonal prints that read as a solid and can be used to add contrast and texture to your quilting projects. They also help break up busy prints to help better appreciate the fabrics used in your quilt. Blenders are great supporting designs but can be used all on there own as well!

AGF carries a great assortment of blenders, we call our blenders “Elements” and we have a ton of different types of Elements ranging in size, texture, and colors. We have Squared Elements, Oval Elements, Nature Elements, Prisma Elements, Floral Elements, and Round Elements!

We are happy to announce two new “Elements” to the list, Icon Elements, which celebrates the beauty of simplified symbols and icons and Decostitch Elements, a blender MADE for stitch lovers.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to take a look at our NEW Fabric Project Catalog it is filled with the most colorful, inspiring projects that will fire up your sewing mojo.

I wanted to make a block that will help celebrate the color in our brand new Element collections so I decided to whip up the "Patchway" block. I love the itty bitty flying geese all pointing into the center of my block and like always it’s hard for me to choose a favorite block. To follow along with me make sure to watch the video below. Feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you think of my block or what your favorite go-to blender is?

For more block videos and tutorials head over to the AGF Channel.

Happy Sewing,

Meli

Welcome Our Newest Elements - Decostitch + Icon

Hi Makers,

Are you looking for some new blenders for your next quilty project?! The usual go-to's are often solids, but we wanted to create something different that added some texture and felt just more unique! So, this time around we decided to expand our collection of Elements by adding two new designs, “DECOSTITCH” and “ICON.” Both of these different designs can be used to sew with a wide variety of prints and colors or be used on their own as well.

For “DECOSTITCH,” we were inspired by stitching motifs and decided to fuse them together with neutral shades like cream, charcoal, mustard, and olive green. Think earthy color palettes that can help contrast, balance and keep a design grounded.

With “ICON,” we decided to highlight simplified symbols, mixing them with bright colors like cherry red, sunny yellow, sky blue, and tangerine. Think more vibrant, almost primary colors you'd find in a candy shop!

We wanted to use both of these collections together and sewed up some projects, highlighting how they can complement one another. Head over to our “Decostitch and Icon Fabric Lookbook” for more sewing inspiration with quilts, garments, accessories, pin cushions, bags, and more.

Color Master of the Month: Cloud & Sky

Color mood board

Hip-hip-hooray, it’s March! It’s my birthday month and also the month that completes my one year anniversary on contributing to this blog! Time is going by fast, but I couldn’t be more thankful for all the things I’ve learned on this fabric journey. This month, I was inspired by March’s birthstone- Aquamarine, so what better than this fabulous group of fabrics from our Color Master line called “Cloud & Sky.” A bundle that’s perfect to gift to someone that has a birthday this month too, or you could sew something up for a baby because of this bundle’s soft color palette. With all this in mind, I really wanted to create a mood board that made you feel relaxed with all these gentle and soft baby blues.

With this wide variety of tones, take your fabric projects to the next level! All you need is one bundle to make a project that's perfect for the month, and you can get it in two sizes: Fat Quarters or Half yards.

Here are some projects from the lookbooks that you can make with our “Color Master” fabrics!

Sewing inspo

Piecing Pouch #1: Featuring the print “Summer Skies Plaid”, this will a great quick project to sew up, and some added quilty elements to make it an extra sturdy pouch.

Plenum Quilt #2: Using the entire "Color Master" to create this gorgeous, gentle blues filled quilt! An explosion of color using our signature quality cotton, combined with an original and unique project. If you’re interested in only making the Plenum Quilt with the box, then check out our Plenum Quilt free pattern, which includes all 10 prints!

Tropfchen Dress #3: The “Chads Retreat” print reminds me of light orbs that show up when you take a picture with the sun reflecting on the lens. You don't see that effect anymore with all these modern cameras, but I love seeing them in old photos. I hope you take pictures and create memories if you make this outfit for your little one!

This “Color Master” bundle can give you the option of using just one print or several to compliment any of your sewings designs. Although this bundle highlights the baby blue color, each print has distinct hues that make it easy to pair with other projects. For example, the print called “Chads Retreat”  (Print shown below, circled in red) has an array of soft colors like peach and white that can help piece together other fabrics with a matching color palette.

Imagine all the possibilities that can be done and if you still need some DIY ideas, we hosted a color fun series post talking all about a bundle that includes baby blues and where you can include these fabrics! Remember that this box is there for your convenience, it has many uses! The “Color Master Box” can keep your fabrics organized and neatly displayed for easy finding, or you can share the love because it’s perfectly curated in a box for an easy present!

BoxNo15-cloud&sky-edition
