Fussy Cut, Appliqué, Repeat- Indie Style Sewing Patterns
November 22, 2017
Hello Makers,
Have you seen the Indie Folk fabrics lookbook yet? Words can't explain how amazing the appliqué projects are! So I knew I had to create a blog post all about different ways you can incorporate the art of appliqué into your sewing and diy projects. I am totally in love with the bold, rich colors in Pat Bravo's new collection Indie Folk fabrics, which I think will go perfect paired with any sewing project this time of year! Take a look below at some of the great ways to add applique to garments and home decor projects for a indie style and boho flair.
It doesn't get any easier turning a old boring jean jacket into a designer, one of a kind jacket! Time to raid your closet for clothes that need revamping or turn thrift store find into walking works of art.
The Mola Artisan Patch uses a fun reverse appliqué technique that will create depth and added texture to your finished product!
With the luscious, yummy pops of color in Indie Folk fabrics being my favorite thing about Indie Folk fabrics, my second favorite thing would have to be the fussy cutting possibilities the prints have! I am pretty sure I want to appliqué everything I own after seeing these jeans and boots appliqued with the "Khokhloma Burgundia" and the "Khokhloma Gloom" prints. (pic below)
Turn your bedroom into your new favorite place to chill with this super chic, boho bed topper. With a mixture of patchwork quilting, layers of applique and frayed raw edge details this project has definitely made it's way to the top of my to sew list!
What a great house warming present the Lark Bottle Holder would make! Practical and pretty are the kind of sewing projects I love to make and this project is just that! What I love most about this project is it is a great scrap buster since all the template pieces are pretty small. Have fun cutting out all the tiny template pieces to form this beautiful hanging masterpiece.
To me pillows are a fun, easy project that is perfect to throw into your to sew list in between big sewing projects because sometimes you need a relaxing break. I love the almond shape silhouette of this decorative pillow with tassels on the top and bottom!
5. Otomi Pillow
Just because it's square doesn't mean it's boring! This intricate mirror imaged floral and reindeer design is bursting with scrappy colors! This is a definitely a pillow that stands out on its own!
Feeling the Indie Folk fever like me? I hope you give some of these applique projects a try! For more sewing inspiration watch the Indie Folk Collection below.
Happy Sewing,
