Travel to Arizona with Sage by Bari J.

Hey there makers!

First off, you all had a HAPPY NEW YEAR and that you are ready to accomplish all kinds of goals this year! I know I sure am! I think this year I’m going to try to conquer garment sewing. One saying that has been lingering in my head since New Year struck is “when life gives you lemons make lemonade.” I know it may seem silly but, we have to be happy with how far we’ve gotten in life and we must take advantage of our experiences and move forward to make the New Year even better.

One set of lemons we’re excited to make into lemonade or better said, sewing projects; is with the fabulous Luma Lemons print from Bari J.’s new collection Sage. This collection is all about the beautiful flowers and fauna of Bari’s home state Arizona. She brings to life quirky quails, sly coyotes, and vivid blooms through her maximalist painterly style.

Get ready to take a trip to Arizona, by exploring the look book! You’ll find tons of chic garments, quilts, and home décor for all kinds of New Year sewing. You can even read all about Bari's design process in her exclusive interview.

Pinterest for Makers

Hey Makers!

I hope everyone has been able to start 2017 with tons of creativity! I know I am! I got an iPad for my birthday and I already started sketching out ideas for all kinds of craft projects. One app I can’t live without when I’m planning things is Pinterest. Their slogan is “the world’s catalog of ideas” and it’s so true!

Pinterest denim

As makers, it’s important to keep our ideas and inspirations organized so that we don’t get overwhelmed during the process. In addition, Pinterest is a great way to show people your interests, style, and your work. You can do this by “curating” boards with themes that are important to you. By organizing your ideas and interests on Pinterest you’ll find like-minded people that enjoy what you do and want to “re-pin” your posts.

If you don’t know what to pin, here are a few boards that inspire me from the AGF Pinterest account:

Love of Color

Love of color board

Sometimes it can be difficult to combine the right colors for a new quilt or home décor project. To prevent yourself from making a color combo mistake, it’s always great to have a board with colors you love. There are ton’s of color stories available for you to choose from and you’ll even find combinations you never thought of! I personally, love this board because it helps me decide what colors to choose for our curated bundles.

Quotes We Love

Quotes we love board

There are days when we want to share something silly or simply laugh. This is why we put together a board with some of our favorite quotes designed with a little AGF twist. If you’re the kind of person who loves inspirational quotes, Pinterest is a great place to find them. You can make a board with all your favorite sayings and it can become your inspirational sanctuary.

Mini Quilt Mania

Mini Quilt Board

Another great way of finding inspiration is by gathering projects other makers have made. This will allow you to see new techniques that you can use in your projects. I personally love the simplicity of mini quilts, but you can make a board dedicated to whatever projects you like to make. For example pillows, garments, bags, etc.

I hope you feel inspired to organize your Pinterest account for 2017! Feel free to visit the AGF Pinterest account for more ideas. Let me know in the comments what’s your favorite thing about this social network?

Happy Pinning!

How to combine Navy Blue with other fabrics? The color of January - AGF ColorFun

ColorFun navyblue logo

Ahoy, creative friends!

Today we reveal the color of January and we are excited to announce that its Navy Blue!

How not to love this classy color? It’s slimming, flattering, and perfect for a professional look.

Navy blue is considered as a base color like black so it can be paired with many colors. It looks great combined with red, gray, light blues, deep pink, orange or yellow. You can't go wrong by combining it with neutrals too!  And it's especially popular to combine with white. Sailor uniforms around the world use to be navy blue with white elements. Slowly this color combination found its place in fashion and home decor as a popular nautical style.

Navy blue jackets or trousers are simply must haves in every women’s closet and let’s not forget about navy blue denim. You know, those jeans that always save days when you really have nothing to wear. ;)

In home decor you can achieve an amazing modern effect by combining it with lime green, bright pink, and sunny yellow. Navy is extremely versatile and works in almost every style of decor.

Take a look at the mood board below and fall in love with this deep color. :)

Yardage Cheat Sheet

Hey there!

When you are new to quilting and sewing knowing the yards/inches gets very confusing. When I started learning how to sew, these terms were like learning another language! Haha! I remember going online and looking for a yardage chart. I wrote down and memorized everything I needed to know. So, to start 2017 by making our lives a bit easier, I decided to make a printable yardage chart. You can hang it in your sewing room as a quick refresher because even if you're an advanced sewist, sometimes you can forget!

Download the yardage chart here.
