AGF + Mega Stash Builder Box Giveaway

Hi everyone!

Do you remember a few months ago when I introduced you to Stash Builder Box? They are the fabric subscription service with a cause! You’re probably asking yourself “What does she mean by “subscription with a cause”? Well, every month you can receive a box with a few specially curated fabric prints, notions, and other sewing related goodies. The best part of this service is that 20% of all the proceeds from every single box sale goes towards making quilts for kids entering crisis centers, shelters or foster care.

Just look at all the amazing quilts SBB has donated!

As if Stash Builder Box wasn’t amazing already, they are rolling out an exciting new program called the Mega Stash Builder Box! Inside the Mega box each month, you’ll get three 1-yard cuts of fabric (YAY, 3 YARDS!!!) from a modern and fun collection, thread, a signature pencil & a box-exclusive pattern. Hence, you can build your awesome fabric collection while helping a good cause! If you are curious, the new Mega Box subscription will be $34.95/ month (and it’s so worth it).

Oh and there’s something exciting about the October box (available until October 14th)! It’s going to be a mystery box (looks like x-mas is starting early, huh)! If you would like to receive some happy mail from Stash Builder Box, check out their website for all the details.

The fun doesn’t end there! To celebrate SBB’s new program and our friendship with them, we are hosting a joined giveaway! Have a chance to win the October Mystery Box and a Fat Quarter Bundle of Nightfall Fabrics by Maureen Cracknell.

10 Shades of grey fabric - October Color Fun

Hello, awesome makers!

We hope you had wonderful week and stayed safe from Hurricane Matthew ( if you live in S. Florida like us). Let me tell you, since the AGF HQ are located in South Florida we got scared for a moment. Fortunately we are all safe and ready to get back to work to keep inspiring you!

It’s time to reveal the color of October in our Color Fun blog series. And I cannot be more excited to announce that we chose for this month my favorite color: grey!Grey is sooo elegant with a touch of cool sophistication. It’s a happy combination between 2 of the most classy colors: black and white.

How to wear grey

As the seasons change we want to wear more muted colors. Among them is the soft shade of grey, which made its appearances on many famous runways. Many of us are getting inspired by the grey fashion trend.

Are you wondering how to match grey with other colors?

This cool shade simply goes with anything! Grey looks great in a head-to-toe looks or as a accent color. But what I like the most is combining it with vivid reds, greens or bright yellows. Experiment with adding a hint of other colors too! See how easily you can create completely different looks! Also, different shades of grey and textures look great when combined together!

Grey in quilting

Grey quilts are modern and simply beautiful. Feel free to combine grey fabrics with black, white, green, plum, yellow. You're sure to make a lovely modern quilt with these colors!

If combining bright colors with grey seems a little too loud for you, mix it with pastels instead. Pastels add a great pop of color to grey and will make your quilt designs looking delicate and dreamy!

See our mood board below for grey inspiration:

We hope we got you inspired and you are already making plans for your new grey garment or quilt!

Here is 10 shades of grey fabric we have chosen from all our collections to be featured in this ColorFun episode. We just loved those greys and hope you will fall in love with them too:

Pinterest = endless inspiration!

Howdy howdy fabric lovers!

I hope you guys are doing great today! Here at AGF HQ we are working really hard to always bring you the best quality in everything we do!

Today, I would like to talk about Pinterest and how helpful it is for all of us! Let me start by explaining what Pinterest is exactly. Pinterest, is a social networking website that allows you to save ideas (pictures) to virtual boards that you create in your profile. Think of Pinterest as 1 million magazines in ONE where you can find TONS of projects, beautiful pictures, tutorials, outfit ideas, patterns, quilts, food, places to visit, or anything you can imagine! When I was a child, I used to rip off the pages of the magazines every time I liked something. Now, I just click and save a pin and it automatically goes to the board I want to save it in.

What I like the most about Pinterest is its versatility. You can use it as a source of inspiration, to promote your business or simply to feast your eyes by looking at beautiful images! There are times when I feel like nothing I'm designing is working, but in the "designing world" that's normal. Sometimes we just need that little "push" to let our minds flow! I'm the one in charge of designing the weekly newsletters and I always want to make different designs so you guys will always find them eye catching and fun! My little secret is ...Pinterest! I always look for ideas, inspiration and more!

Also, I would like to invite you to our Pinterest profile. We have more than 45 boards where you will find inspirational pictures for your projects, DIY tutorials, free quilt patterns, display ideas, ideas for packaging and much more! My favorite boards are : Bundles of joy, Botanical, Made with AGF and Everyday Funny

If you already follow us on Pinterest what are your favorite boards?

I hope you all enjoyed!

Mister Domestic Visits the AGF HQ

Hey there, Sewing Enthusiasts!

I hope you’re having a swell week so far! Can you believe it’s October already? Before you know it, it will be the week of Fall Quilt Market in Houston. Time is definitely zooming by! But let’s slow down a little and reflect on the past few days.

As you already know, September was sewing month and inspiration was hitting us from left and right.  From a blog tour to a few sew alongs, there were tons of great things to see. But the real surprise happened at the end of the month when our AGF Sewcialite, Mister Domestic gave us a surprise visit at the AGF HQ.

Let me tell you, hanging out with Mister Domestic was nothing but fun! We laughed, chatted about our love for fabrics, and he basically took over the HQ. As If we didn’t love him enough already, we were all overjoyed by his positivity and inspired by his journey as a maker. One phrase that he always said that really stuck with me was “You do, you.”

As simple as it sounds, sometimes it’s difficult to “Do you” because there are times you want everyone to like you and you want to please everyone. Especially, when showing off your creative abilities! Mister Domestic advises all makers to avoid the path of perfection and worrying about other’s opinions because if you show off your true self, people will love you even more.

To sum up the wonderful time we had with Mister Domestic, we’ve prepared a little video of all his antics here in the AGF HQ. Remember to keep your eyes peeled for tons of videos and tutorials hosted by him, coming soon!

We hope you had fun watching the video. As always, stay creative and remember to “do you”!
