Re-cap: AGF Spring 2016 Fabric Collection Reveals

The Denim Studio Blog Tour

Hey there beautiful sewists!

We hope you’re having a splendid day! Remember our recent release of The Denim Studio? It was filled with excitement, projects, a lookbook and A LOT of fabric petting! We even made a Youtube video explaining everything about denim. It’s obvious we are obsessed!

The fun didn’t stop there. Since sewing is all about the visuals, we wanted to show you that the possibilities are endless with the Denim Studio. Karly, from Paisley Roots hosted a wonderful Children’s Garments blog tour with AGF denim. It was filled with adorable outfits for kids of many ages.

We then had a craving for quilts…denim quilts (because we didn’t have enough with the ones in the lookbook). So, we got in contact with our friend Christopher a.k.a. The Tattooed Quilter and he hosted The Denim Studio Blog Tour (quilt edition). Christopher gathered a few of his quilting friends and they created masterpieces!

Here’s a little re-cap of all the AGF denim beauties:

First up, was Christopher’s lovely 20” sampler mini quilt. He used a combination of our Solid Smooth denim, Denim Prints, and solid fabrics from our Pure Elements. Now, let’s talk about the block arrangement! Christopher put together flying geese, log cabin, and half-square triangle blocks.  This mini truly highlights all the fabrics beautifully in Christopher’s modern style.

Up next, was Nicholas from Quilts from the Attic with his stunning improv mini quilt. We not only loved the complexity of the quilt but also the beautiful story behind the quilt. The design was inspired by his father’s excitement to buy his first pair of patchwork jeans. Nicholas brought the story to life with a combination of Solid Textured denim, Denim Prints, and Solid Smooth denim. To complete the look of this edgy mini, Nicholas quilted it with a "dense edge-to-edge sea of mussel shells design".

Then we had Sari from Sariditty Handmade with her astounding 5’ by 7’ diamond quilt. This beauty was made of 300 denim diamonds made with our Denim Prints, Solid Smooth Denim, and Solid Textured Denim! To fancy it up, Sari finished it with gold quilting, piping, and added a zipper for some extra pizazz. Have you ever seen a quilt as glamorous as this?

Jennifer from Ginger Peach Studio showed us that quilting can be fashionable! That’s right, she encourages everyone to wear their quilts and make quilty fashion. Jenn used our Solid Smooth denim to create the outer shell of the coat and the meticulous quilt block detail. The coat is based on Cascade Duffle Coat by Grainline Studio and we absolutely love it!

Last but not least, Nicole from Modern Handcraft ended this exciting tour with her Cruella Deville quilt. Why did she name it after a villain? Well, it has two contrasting sides just like Cruella Deville’s hair! The tiny piecing of the Solid Smooth denim transitioned into Pure Elements is fabulous! This quilt is a wonder up close and from a far.

We hope everyone enjoyed this re-cap of the Denim Studio Blog Tour hosted by The Tattoed Quilter! Feel free to share any of your denim creations with us on social media using the hashtag #The DenimStudiobyAGF and #ArtGalleryFabrics. As always, stay creative and thanks for inspiring!

Till next time,

Stephanie
