New Analog Times with Pastel Thrift by AGF Studio

Pastel thrift_cover_art gallery fabrics

Hello crafty creatives!

How’s everyone doing? You probably noticed our collection releases were briefly interrupted to bring you all the awesome spring 2016 fabric collections we’re going to be showing during Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. But don’t worry, our favorite time of the week is back! Collection release day, yay!

Today, we’re happy to present the newest fabric collection designed by our AGF Studio, Pastel Thrift! This fabric collection is beautifully balanced with soft shades of pink, blue, yellow and completed with greys. Pastel Thrift brings to light an afternoon spent at a quirky thrift store filled with unique trinkets and rare oddities. I simply love how this fabric collection gives a modern twist to vintage things through the use of punchy pastel colors (it includes the so-talked-about Pantone colors of the year 2016: Rosequartz and Serenity - we swear we didn't know back in October when we showed it first, we just went with our gut) and the addition of black.

When you look closely at some of the prints in this collection you’ll realize that it plays homage to analog objects, such as record players, photography slides, the numbers in vintage watches, and printed books.  In a world filled with technology, it’s always nice remember those times when you had to wait for pictures to be developed or actually buy music in records, it's good to still have the option.

Enough about the past! Let’s talk about how our love for vintage things has translated into inspirational projects just for you! Check out the Pastel Thrift Lookbook and feast your eyes with tons of patterns and tutorials.

Feeling creative? We’ve prepared this Alchemie FREE QUILT PATTERN for you! Its modern design and vintage inspired flair (do you see how it resembles the photo slides?) is great for any bedroom.

Our favorite curated maximalist, Bari J. has expressed her joy for life through her beautiful new collection, Joie De Vivre. Bari’s paintings come to life in beautiful prints accompanied by vibrant gem colors and striking geometrics.

The very sweet Amy Sinibaldi is back and is presenting her new collection Playground, as an AGF licensed designer! This collection shows off Amy’s delicate style in a whole new way. She shows us the beauty of childhood through soft colors and subtle prints.

Hello Ollie_edit

Bonnie Christine, made us catch tons of heart eyes when we found out that her new collection Hello, Ollie is inspired by her daughter. This collection is filled with delicate swans and memories of an afternoon by the lake. PLUS, this is AGF’s first GOTS-certified organic fabric collection! YAY!

Maureen Cracknell takes us on a night adventure and shows us the world of cute nocturnal creatures with Nightfall. She pays homage to the wise owl and other wonders of the night that frolic under the moonlight.

April Rhodes captivates us once more with her earthy style and the beautiful textures in Observer. Inspired by naturally occurring and the man-made patterns of the world, this collection will inspire you to pay attention to details and find meaning in the world.

The Denim Studio Blog Tour

Hey there beautiful sewists!

We hope you’re having a splendid day! Remember our recent release of The Denim Studio? It was filled with excitement, projects, a lookbook and A LOT of fabric petting! We even made a Youtube video explaining everything about denim. It’s obvious we are obsessed!

The fun didn’t stop there. Since sewing is all about the visuals, we wanted to show you that the possibilities are endless with the Denim Studio. Karly, from Paisley Roots hosted a wonderful Children’s Garments blog tour with AGF denim. It was filled with adorable outfits for kids of many ages.

We then had a craving for quilts…denim quilts (because we didn’t have enough with the ones in the lookbook). So, we got in contact with our friend Christopher a.k.a. The Tattooed Quilter and he hosted The Denim Studio Blog Tour (quilt edition). Christopher gathered a few of his quilting friends and they created masterpieces!

Here’s a little re-cap of all the AGF denim beauties:

The denim studio_art gallery fabrics_the tatooed quilter

First up, was Christopher’s lovely 20” sampler mini quilt. He used a combination of our Solid Smooth denim, Denim Prints, and solid fabrics from our Pure Elements. Now, let’s talk about the block arrangement! Christopher put together flying geese, log cabin, and half-square triangle blocks.  This mini truly highlights all the fabrics beautifully in Christopher’s modern style.

The denim studio_art gallery fabrics_quiltsfromtheattic

Up next, was Nicholas from Quilts from the Attic with his stunning improv mini quilt. We not only loved the complexity of the quilt but also the beautiful story behind the quilt. The design was inspired by his father’s excitement to buy his first pair of patchwork jeans. Nicholas brought the story to life with a combination of Solid Textured denim, Denim Prints, and Solid Smooth denim. To complete the look of this edgy mini, Nicholas quilted it with a "dense edge-to-edge sea of mussel shells design".

The denim studio_art gallery fabrics_sariditty

Then we had Sari from Sariditty Handmade with her astounding 5’ by 7’ diamond quilt. This beauty was made of 300 denim diamonds made with our Denim Prints, Solid Smooth Denim, and Solid Textured Denim! To fancy it up, Sari finished it with gold quilting, piping, and added a zipper for some extra pizazz. Have you ever seen a quilt as glamorous as this?

The denim studio_art gallery fabrics_gingerpeachstudio

Jennifer from Ginger Peach Studio showed us that quilting can be fashionable! That’s right, she encourages everyone to wear their quilts and make quilty fashion. Jenn used our Solid Smooth denim to create the outer shell of the coat and the meticulous quilt block detail. The coat is based on Cascade Duffle Coat by Grainline Studio and we absolutely love it!

The denim studio_art gallery fabrics_modernhandcraft

Last but not least, Nicole from Modern Handcraft ended this exciting tour with her Cruella Deville quilt. Why did she name it after a villain? Well, it has two contrasting sides just like Cruella Deville’s hair! The tiny piecing of the Solid Smooth denim transitioned into Pure Elements is fabulous! This quilt is a wonder up close and from a far.

We hope everyone enjoyed this re-cap of the Denim Studio Blog Tour hosted by The Tattoed Quilter! Feel free to share any of your denim creations with us on social media using the hashtag #The DenimStudiobyAGF and #ArtGalleryFabrics. As always, stay creative and thanks for inspiring!

Well, we finally get to reveal the secret! Drum rolls please...! We are extremely happy to announce that Art Gallery Fabrics will now produce ORGANIC COTTON for the first time ever!

Art Gallery Fabrics_Organics_Organic Cotton

Like with any of our other substrates, you’ll be able to “feel the difference” with AGF Organics! After a long time of planning and research, we’re happy to bring you a custom-woven organic cotton like no other!

You may be wondering, what’s the difference between regular cotton and organic cotton fabrics? The production of organic cotton begins with the selection of the seeds, to naturally rotating the crops in healthy soil while avoiding any types of pesticides that can harm the crop or the farmers. From that point on, it’s specially handled in the mills, and is printed with low impact inks.

Our new substrate will have our unmatched quality and design on a 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton base cloth, with the most eco-friendly GOTS-approved inks and dyes in the industry. These certifications ensure that our fabrics are part of a fair-trade, which means they are produced in a safe, humane, and healthy environment during the entire process.

We’re glad we can make the world a bit better and safer one yard at a time with AGF Organics. Stay tuned to learn more about our new substrate and to find out which collections will be released in organics. As always, stay creative and thanks for inspiring!
