Fat Quarter Gang - Patricia Infinity Cowl by luvinthemommyhood

FatQuarterGANG_banner400pxBLUE

Hi everyone! It's Fat Quarter Gang time today at Art Gallery Fabrics!  I'm Shannon from the blog  luvinthemommyhood and I'm going to show you all how to make the Patricia  Infinity Cowl using only 6 fat quarters! Woot woot!

It's a great beginner project to practice piecing and working in 3 dimensional forms.  I love making things that have multiple looks and living on the West Coast of BC in Canada means I wear a lot of cowls and layers. The Patricia Cowl doesn't disappoint.

With the option to have 3 prints/solids per side you can have a total of 6 different fabrics to show off! Hello! Fun!!!!!!!!

It's warm, huge, and perfect with your fave jacket but could also easily be worn with a tee in the warmer months for some added flair!

Worn single looped or doubled up the Patricia Infinity Cowl is sure to be your new fave accessory this winter.

You can easily change up your fabrics by turning the cowl inside out and BAM! - you have a whole new look!

Great for dressing up a simple tee.

When choosing my fabrics for my latest Fat Quarter Gang project I could not resist the lure of Pat Bravo's Rock N' Romance line.

I'm a gemini and love the play on soft and hard for this line. It appeals to both parts of my personality.  And since I'm always changing my mind about what color or vibe I want to wear this suits me perfectly.  I also think this cowl would be equally as fabulous in some bright solids.

That's next up on my list.  Art Gallery Fabrics (along with gorgeous prints) makes some awesome color palettes of solids and who can resist that darn pima cotton! The drape and soft hand is so amazing!

So pick your fave new fabric crushes and let's get sewing your newest accessory!  Click below for the whole tutorial in an easy downloadable PDF :)

To make a Patricia Infinity Cowl you will need the following supplies:

  • 6 fat quarters of fabrics of your choice.  I used the following combination of fat quarters from Rock ‘n Romance by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics:
  •  - (1) fat quarter of Wild Heart Daring (RR-4400)

    - (1) fat quarter of Rebel Cherie Kisses (RR-4404)

    - (2) fat quarters of Ashen Rose Smoke (RR-4406)

    - (2) fat quarters of Femme Metale Chrome (RR-4409)

*Note: Ashen Rose Smoke and Wild Heart Daring were used in combination for the outer cowl portion and Femme Metale Chrome and Rebel Cherie Kisses were used in combination for the inner cowl portion.
    • hand sewing needle
    • co-ordinating thread

Perfect for a lovely quick gift (this takes literally about 30-45mins from start to finish) or for some selfish sewing after the holidays. Go on....spoil yourself...you deserve it!

    Hi everyone I'm Megan.

Hi everyone my name is Megan and I am the visual merchandiser here at Art Gallery Fabrics.

I have been working with the team since November and have been loving every minute of it. I get to do something amazing and different everyday with an amazing group of people who I love. I am surrounded with beautiful things, fun people, and I get to do what I love as a job. Life couldn't get any sweeter.

My job is to work on a lot of the visuals that you will see here on our beautiful blog and around all the social media outlets. I have been a sewer and a crafter since the age of three so my talents are being put to good use here at AGF.

I am a fashion design graduate so my sewing and pattern-making skills come in handy with tutorials (those are my sewing hands in the Gizmo wallet.)

    Sewing final pockets

I love everything handmade and spend most of my time crafting and baking. I am also the baker behind the Sugar and Spice posts. Some of my favorite things to sew are remakes of 1940s and 1950s clothing and crafts. I am SEW RETRO when it comes to quilting.

I look forward to creating more tutorials and creating more beautiful things to share.

    So Nice Chatting With You,

    From Megan With Love!

    Ginger_monkeyBREAD_2
    Mixing Instructions

In a small bowl mix 1 packet of yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/3 cup warm water and set aside for 10 minutes until it starts to get foamy

In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter, milk, and molasses and set aside

In a bowl (I use a stand mixer) use a fork to combine flour, salt, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg

Mix while slowly adding molasses and then yeast mixture

The dough will be sticky and stick to the bottom of bowl, if too wet use flour set aside for counter to one pinch at a time until dough is manageable, dough should look smooth

Knead dough on lightly floured surface and form into ball

Place ball into bowl and place in warm spot to rise until ball doubles in size, can take from 1-2 hours

Butter Bundt pan with 2 tablespoons of softened butter

Place two shallow pans on the counter and place brown sugar in one and 1 stick melted butter in other

Take small pieces of risen dough in hand and roll into balls about 1 inch round

One at a time dip balls into butter and roll in brown sugar

Place in layers into Bundt pan

Cover pan with plastic wrap and allow to rise 1 more hour in warm place

    Preheat over to 350 degrees

The balls will be puffy and come to about an inch under the top of the pan

Bake monkey bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown

Remove from oven and cool 5 minutes then invert onto plate and allow cake to cool in pan another 5-10 minutes until you can remove from pan
