SEWING MACHINE NEEDLES 101
January 18, 2009
Where was I ??
Well, finishing many things... new patterns, four fabric collections, spending some time with my son Alex -he came back from a one month trip to Spain and he showed me tons of pictures-, my dryer was broken, -rush visit to Sears for a new one-. More work for three new magazines, and so many other things that make me think that days are made of 48 hours! :D
I reserved some time for a special project that I had in mind since I started this blog: a series of tutorials for new -and not so new- sewers and quilters. So I thought that this first month of 2009 was a good time to start.
"NEEDLES 101" was the first one that I had in my list, because I think it's a basic for anyone who wants to take their first steps in sewing (and we have a big, avid for knowledge new generation.) Needles also are one of the vital components in a sewing machine; and as I say in the tutorial, "it can make all the difference between a good and a bad seam."
I hope you enjoy it, and if you feel like it, you can share with others sewers here -through your comments- your experiences and thoughts. How important is for you to use the appropriate needle for the job? How often do you think you need to change needles while sewing? Are you confused by so many sizes and types when you go shopping? What kind of needle do you like the most? All your comments are welcome!
Stay tuned for the first Art Gallery Fabrics giveaway! How about a stack of 50 fat quarters of my fabric collections for some of you? Subscribe to my feed to receive more details soon...
Handmade rocks... so keep on stitching!
