10 Floral Fabrics Perfect for Fall

Hey there, fabric connoisseurs!

Lately I’ve been thinking about how fall is around the corner (Starts September 22nd). Although, “fall” is still like summer in South Florida, I like to follow upcoming fashion trends and get inspired by all kinds of festive colors. One thing I noticed when looking for fall inspiration is that most of the time people ignore florals in their sewing and style during this season.

You’re probably thinking “this makes sense because florals are meant for spring/summer since they’re usually bright,” but I beg to differ. I think floral fabrics are timeless and can be used during any season, plus they add a classy touch to any project! Trust me, you’ll love to do some fall sewing with some our floral fabrics!

To share my love for florals with you, I’ve prepared a selection of 10 fabric prints that can work well for the upcoming season.

Floral swatches

Here’s a list of all the collections they belong to:

FOR-47707 Clover Grove Whisper | Forest Floor by Bonnie Christine

MFL-11354 Line Drawings Yellow | Millie Fleur by Bari J.

FLO-9120 What Awaits Above | Fleet and Flourish by Maureen Cracknell

TAP-82490 Paper Flowers Parchment | Tapestry by Sharon Holland

HME-70402 Petal Strings Romance | Heart Melodies by AGF Studio

PLG-22341 He Loves Me Plum | Playground by Amy Sinibaldi

Circle for fall

The big deciding factor why I chose all of these fabrics was their colors. Fall is known for mustard yellows, dark shades like plum, muted greys, and rust neutrals. Hence, I kept all these shades in mind when fabric picking. As I searched the endless rolls and bolts for the perfect fall florals, I began day dreaming of cute table runners, vintage aprons, and fancy a-line skirts.

If your mind is already overflowing with project ideas, it’s your lucky day because I’m giving away 2 fat quarter bundles of these prints!

I love florals. I think almost every article of clothing I made for myself when I was first learning to sew was made from florals. I am still drawn to them. And this bundle is beautiful!!

I think florals are always in season, they are so timeless and fit into every decor. I love the many colors in many florals- love the jewel tones and rich colors of Autumn.

Florals make me feel like a freshly opened bloom, alive when wearing ’em. I’d have to stitch Lots of tunics, boho tops in mustard and plums , an apron too.
Although Autumn usually means decor in oranges, golds, browns in my house, a runner and pillows in Plum and muted grey w/a twist of mustard would truly give it a facelift. Stephanie you did wonderful curating this bouquet of flowers:)

It’s refreshing to see someone challenging the norm and embracing florals beyond the typical spring/summer association. I couldn’t agree more – florals are indeed timeless, and their versatility knows no seasonal bounds.
